Your current prestrafe speed is kept and recorded while bhopping

I've been bhopping around on one block on synergy just now and I realized that I was getting +1u/s per every jump. This kept stacking up until 276, which is almost the max pre you can get on ground. Additionally, if you get 275 pre before bhopping it will carry on as long as you keep jumping. Not really sure how this works and I could be talking out of my ass, but this is how it appears to me:

If you start out at 250 speed without prestrafing to 275 speed, your following jumps will be 251, 252, 253, 254, and so on. Although, this will only happen IF you are jumping off the ground while holding a directional key and strafing in that direction. I do believe that is because you actually end up strafing on the ground for that one moment you hit it. That one moment of "prestrafe" equals to +1u/s. Furthermore, even if your speed is kept or even if you fall below 250, your prestrafe MIGHT still be tracked, which means that your pre is still increasing by 1u/s. In the end, This means that if you are smart you will be able to keep constant 275 speed while bhopping (Not 100% on this). Sometimes you will get 260, sometimes you will get 249, and sometimes your prestrafe will simply reset back to 250.

You can do the same thing while crouching, but you just gain speed much, much slower. The normal 85 seems to go up to 93, but if you jump out with 275 pre you will have 93 off the bat. Then again, doing this with crouch jumps is SUPER RANDOM and you will be jumping 85 most of the time, but do not worry as long as you are bhopping midstrafe then the prestrafe will be recorded at 93.

Best part? You can enter a bhop with 275 pre, crouch bhop (does not matter if you drop to 85 or lower, your pre is backed up), then exit the crouch bhop into normal jumps and you will STILL keep the 275 pre and will end up almost constantly jumping 275.

The next thing is that all your jumps are almost all the time at 275 speed, so the chances of getting 380s are higher.

That's it. Sorry if this is common knowledge, but I had no idea this was even a thing and wanted to share it with others that did not know.

Edit.: Also it does not matter if you hit a wall and your speed is reduced to 0, your 275 pre is still there, hidden.

Yup! This is a thing. It's actually in a lot of the maps but people don't think about it. After the triple ladders on kz_reach there is a 255 or 256 LJ which would require a perf if this wasn't a thing, but since you have time to prestrafe before it you can make the jump 100% of the time. Same thing on a lot of jumps on kz_basics_b02.
This is what makes synergy_x so much harder playing on no pre servers like hoc1, you can instantly feel the lack of prestrafe resets since all you get is 250 resets.

I'm just amazed that it is not talked about at all. Don't think I've ever heard anyone mention this before, even though it is something that can make a rather huge difference.

So the key thing is just that you keep moving on the block? I use to just press keys when i need to while i bhop.
So if i just press any direction key before i hit the surface it keeps my pre? Or does it only work with A/D?

You just have to be holding it as you jump while strafing in that direction. If you're strafing A+D then you have to hit jump while holding either A as you strafe left, or D as you strafe right. Not sure if it's possible with anything other than A/D, though, since I don't think you can actually gain pre with W/S.

Yeah there was a post about this on kzclimb a few months ago. Someone went into detail explaining it, and as plekz said some bhop sections and shortcuts that people think require perfs are actually pretty easy to do if you go into the bhop section with 275 pre
