Can we increase the rtv requirement when there are only 2-3 people on the server to 100% have to rtv? It's really frustrating when someone comes on the server with no intention of actually making a run, but rtv's just to screw up your run. This has happened to me on several occasions and it's always someone [NEW]. Others will wait till you finish your run or go to one of the other servers.

I agree with you, however a downside is if one of the 3 are afk. That will render it impossible to rtv unless he leaves or more people join.

But I am curious to hear more suggestions so I will be following the thread.

Main point is that I agree

One workaround might be to remove the ability to vote from players of a certain rank, it would also help for those times where newer players blindly vote for the map that has the most appealing name.

Yeah but then harder maps are more likely to be chosen and it will drive away potential future community members. Maybe if there was a way for the timer to tell if people have been afk and treat it as if only people moving around were actually there so they can vote.

I agree more with Crash, he has a good point but a problem would be that afk players could come back the last second and then vote.

A 'faulty' rtv system is something that loads of servers have but it would be really cool if we could get a fix for it.

Or you could make it so you have to finish the map once before being able to rtv, im not a big fan of my own idea but hey if it helps I wouldn't mind.

That would sadly not work, what it is uhm kz_colors? I am no KZer but who would be able to RTV of the newer guys?

Good idea for shorter maps but will most likely not work :/

That makes me think of something IEatCrayons brought up yesterday, some maps like Apricity or Agitation should be put on the vip only list like retribution and failed_fastrun.

I have never completed more then one KZ map and I am a admin for the bhop server but I assume you say these maps are difficult, I am not the right guy to propose this to as I have no KZ knowledge sorry.

My first thought upun reading the first few posts here was to simply allow people to "veto" when there's, say, fewer than 4 or 5 players on the server. Basically if people RTV and you're in the middle of a run you are presented with a menu where you can choose to keep playing the map. This would only be available for people with the timer running and it could only be done once. It should probably also disable the option to RTV for a set amount of time like 10-20 minutes or possibly something based on average map completion time. Once the player hits the stop button it would be possible to RTV again.

This wouldn't completely eliminate the problem but it would alleviate it a lot. It would also cause some potential for "griefing", but abusing it should be a bannable offense.

I like your idea, griefing is always an option and we will always do our best to prevent this.

So if I get your straight it means people start a temporary RTV that triggers once the runner is done or after a set time such as 10/20 min?

This is a good idea but may need some polishing.

Not really that, more like the player running can cancel the RTV if it passes. Doesn't really matter though, so long as the result is the same.

The problem is what counts as running, could I just start my timer and cancel it unless I like the rtv? Just be to annoying, I feel like trolls will go nuts over that

Well, once you hit the finish button the map can be RTVed as normal, there would also be a timer to prevent one person from making everyone else wait through like 2 hours of failing on kz_colors or something. You could also only enable the feature if the player in question has invested a notable amount of time. It doesn't really matter if your run on a 3 minute map gets RTVed, but it kind of sucks when you're near the end of a 1 hour map. If you pause for more than like 2-5 minutes that should also enable RTVing again, because you shouldn't take long breaks when a bunch of people are waiting for you.

It would be pretty hard to make it completely foolproof, maybe it'd just be better to keep things as they are. To me it just seems like a good way to achieve the goal presented in the OP.

1 thing i think is that the vote for extending the map should always win when it ends in a tie with something else...this would at least prevent some1 changing it on u when theres only 2 ppl...and other than that it should be majority right?

An idea here would be this.

If a map has been voted to RTV, an option menu should come up for those running the map. This option would state if they wish to RTV or continue with the map. However, here is the catch.

The menu would only come up if you are further than 60-75% in to the map and the AVG map time is over 15 mins. This should stop people simply voting to not RTV.

The map is only not changed if 50% or over players who get this option vote to not change. If a player is AFK and does not vote, their vote counts as null.

The person should only be able to do this once per map, or something along those lines. This would help to stop people abusing to stay on the same map constantly.

Simply my thoughts, critique if neccesary.
