Hello. As most of you know I make maps. I make maps for HOC #2 and eventually they make their way around onto smaller servers, via workshop or whatever. Recently there has been a new server/group that has popped up, Kz-climb. Kz-climb is a very active group with, a youtube of runs, and their own mappers. Here's where the problem is, they really like to put their logo on stuff. I'm all for them adding logos to THEIR MAPS, but it is REALLY NOT OK to put them on other peoples maps without their permission. Recently they started “Project Globalization” which was in effort to “GLOBALIZE” maps that didn’t have timers. So they started with a few maps. One of them being kz_limit. Kz_limit was my first map. I was young and foolish, there were many errors with the maps. You'd think since they would be making a global version I could go back and fix all the issues in the map. But instead they KNOWLINGLY DECOMPLILED MY MAP. Out of basic respect you should at least make an ATTEMPT to contact the mapper. I can understand if you cannot get a hold of them, but at least try. Next They added their logo to MY map. LIKE what makes you THINK you have the right to DECOMPILE MY MAP AND ADD YOUR LOGO ONTO IT WITHOUT MY PREMISSION. Don't worry it keeps getting better. Next they decided they wanted to UPLOAD IT TO THE STEAM WORKSHOP. LIKE WHAT MADE YOU THINK THAT THIS WAS OK? You have litterally stole something, and uploaded as your own. No credit or anything. Just a big fat kz-climb logo slapped on the end. As you can see they have done it with over 130 maps, the only ones with credit provided are to the kz-climb mappers. I am even on their list, so how haven't they asked around and contacted me? Sorry if this is the wrong thread, and sorry for the long winded rant. Happy mapping.
Hey, I am an admin from KZ climb. While I personally have nothing to do with the _global mapping project, I 100% agree with you on this. The project was well-meant and I don't think the mappers really considered the consequences of slapping the logo (without the original map-makers permission) on the maps. I'd recommend you make a thread about this on the kzclimb forum too and/or talk to the mappers who did this. I will talk to kz climb mapping team and hopefully prevent this from happening again. Haru
